Happenstance (Swap!)

I am officially on Thanksgiving break! Which is ridiculously wonderful except for the fact that I have an intense amount of work to get done because after we get back we have two weeks then finals then done for the semester! I can't believe it went by so fast but so much of my energy got poured into the creative writing non-fiction class I'm in. I had no idea how draining it would be or how emotionally attached I would get to it. My piece didn't go over super well and revising it seems very daunting. But it will be okay. I'll be in Adv. Fiction next semester which will be even more challenging but it's all good! I can't believe I'll be in my final semester soon....

I meant to post a few photos from one of the Halloween parties I went too. I was a flapper which isn't very original but I managed to pin up my long hair into a bob for an added effect. I had no idea it would take so long and so many tries! But it ended up looking pretty good. Don't think I'll be cutting my hair anytime soon even though I got a ton of compliments on it! It took me three years to grow it out and I don't think I'm ready to give it up yet.

Shoes: Kenneth Cole -- Dress, Assorted jewelry & Headband: H&M -- Bag: Vintage

I adore this beaded bag and was super excited to get to show it off. I got it for Christmas last year and it's phenomenal. I think it's from the 40's but I'll have to double check. The inside has the best, unexpected pocket space too.
I got my first mail at the house! And had to share. They're beautiful kuchi discs to use for bellydance costuming. They're so gorgeous in person.

I haven't even taken the tag off yet! I just adore looking at them. And they're about 4 inches in diameter.

One more thing! Is anyone interested in a swap or sale? I have a beautiful owl necklace from Anthropologie that just never got it's chance to be worn and loved. I'd love to swap for something else that might be more useful. Any takers? It needs you!

Loving You

I may be broke, but a girl can dream. I wandered on to ModCloth just to look and found a few wonderful things, perhaps some a little easier to possibly get to than others.

1. Very Superstitious Tape Dispenser

Ridiculously adorable. And now that I don't live at home I'm really missing my black kitty, mon chat noir!

2. Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe

I love books, especially stash books. This one even has a lock on it! It's genius and I adore the choice of book.

3. Edna St. Vincent Mil-lace Blouse

I think it's just stunning. And the lace is gorgeous, reminds me of hippie meets victorian England.

4. Calypso Skirt

Seeing this skirt gives me an intense desire to start swashbuckling. I'd like to make a skirt for dance based on something like this. It's just too perfect.

5. The Christine Dress

I'm not the biggest Rachel Zoe fan but I did about die when I saw this dress. It's absolutely amazing. The print on the fabric is also lovely, however, unless it goes drastically on sale I will just have to wish for it from afar.

Reading

November has started off a smidge stressful but I think I can keep it in check. I'm happy to report that I've managed to swing the Creative Writing minor and will get to graduate with that and a major in Applied History in the fall, basically a fine arts degree. All the writing is starting to get to me, non fiction is much harder than I anticipated just because, well, you have to write about yourself! It's hard finding that line between boring and relevant and what you're trying to portray in the essay. Andrea has some great posts about writing if you want to delve further.

Right now we are reading Dave Eggers for class

It's pretty good, I have about 100 more pages to go, the way he writes is interesting and I don't know if I agree with all of his author-ly choices but I'm sure people rarely do.
So I need some new things to read at the end of this book. Any suggestions? And Halloween pictures when I get the internet back on my desktop!

Your airplane

Oh comely, I will be with you when you lose your breath,
Chasing the only meaningful memory you thought you had left.
With some pretty, bright and bubbly terrible scene
That was doing her thing on your chest.

But oh comely,
It isn't as pretty as you'd like to guess
In your memory, you're drunk on your awe ,to me
It doesn't mean anything at all.

Oh comely,
All of your friends are all letting you blow,
Bristling and ugly, bursting with fruits falling out from the holes
Of some pretty, bright, and bubbly friend
You could need to say comforting things in your ear

But oh comely,
There isn't such one friend that you could find here.
Standing next to me,
He's only my enemy
I'll crush him with everything I own.

Say what you want to say
Hang for your hollow ways
Moving your mouth to pull out
All your miracles aimed for me.

Your father made fetuses with flesh licking ladies,
While you and your mother were asleep in the trailer park.
Thunderous sparks from the dark of the stadiums,
The music and medicine you needed for comforting.
So make all your fat fleshy fingers to moving,
And pluck all your silly strings, bend all your notes for me.
Soft silly music is meaningful magical,
The movements were beautiful, all in your ovaries.
All of them milking with green fleshy flowers,
While powerful pistons were sugary sweet machines.
Smelling of semen all under the garden
Was all you were needing when you still believed in me.

Say what your want to say.
Hang for your hollow ways.
Moving your mouth to pull out
All your miracles aimed for me.

And I know they buried her body with others,
Her sister and mother and five-hundred families.
And will she remember me fifty years later?
I wished I could save her in some sort of time machine.

Know all your enemies.

We know who our enemies are.

Goldaline, my dear,
We will fold and freeze together
Far away from here.
There is sun and spring and green forever.

But now we move to feel for ourselves inside some stranger's stomach.

Place your body here,
Let your skin begin to blend itself with mine.

(Hopefully a semi normal posting schedule soon. Been a little more than preoccupied. Hope everyone is having a wonderful October.)
